Michael and I were students together at TC. He spent time at my home and was dear friend to me and my husband. He was my confidante. We conversed regulaly and met at conferences after graduation. I will miss him terribly.

Dear Starr and friends of Michael,

Like everyone else, I was dismayed to hear that we have lost Michael. For the past two weeks, I have been finding it hard to believe that he is gone. We had been friends since the USOE Graduate Leadership in Education Project back in the 1970s. Like everyone else, a convention hadn't really started until I ran across Michael to see what the social plans were!

The last time I saw Michael was in Minneapolis. He and I went to Mass together (but I declined to join him in his lap swimming this time). We talked about organizing a reunion of all of the GLEP fellows during AERA in New York in March. He particularly looked forward to visiting with Abe Tannenbaum. Michael always held our mentors from those days in such esteem - Julian (of course) and Harry, Abe, Jim and Joe. Now Michael will be thought of in the same fond way by those lucky enough to study under him!

I'd like to go forth with the GLEP reunion idea, in honor of Michael. If anyone would like to help, please contact me. We'll raise a vodka toast to (in Francoys' words) the "ethical researcher" and kind friend that Michael was!
